At the December 12, 2016, Hillsborough Board of Education meeting, the Board and the administration presented Debashis “Dev” Dutta with a plaque to recognize him for his three years of service as a member of the Hillsborough Board of Education. As an elected representative, Dutta and all members of the Board of Education, serve the community as volunteers. The members attend twice monthly public meetings, monthly committee meetings, spend time reviewing educational materials, attend countless student and staff events, and meet with community members to gain an understanding of the will of their constituents.
In November 2013, Dutta was elected to the Board of Education and has served on the Operations Committee as well as the Education Committee, and was a member of the Negotiating Team. During his three year term, Dutta has been an adamant supporter of expanding STEM opportunities for Hillsborough students at all levels.
Dutta’s final meeting as a Hillsborough Board of Education member will be on December 19, 2016. Newly elected Board of Education member, Jean Trujillo, will be sworn in at the first meeting of the year, that will be held on January 9, 2017.
“I am very appreciative of the work that Dev has done on behalf of our students and staff over the past three years,” stated Dr. Jorden Schiff, Superintendent of Hillsborough Township Public Schools. “His dedication to balancing the needs of our students and staff with the concerns of the community, has made his a well respected voice on our Board.”
