Full-Day Kindergarten

Full day kindergarten class

A full-day kindergarten program will allow Hillsborough Township Public Schools to spend additional time with our youngest learners. It will also lessen the effects of our state aid reduction by enabling us to receive full funds for these students rather than only partial funding. 90% of New Jersey districts have full day kindergarten, we are one of only three districts in somerset county with a half day program. New Jersey Student Learning Standards for kindergarten are more easily met when children are in school for a full day.

As part of the district's Strategic Planning process, a work group was created to research the learning opportunities that a full-day kindergarten and preschool program provides to children. To view the work group's research, please click here. There is a thorough reference section at the end of the report regarding the benefits of full-day kindergarten. Below are some additional resources that are available online.
