Chromebook Distribution Info for Grades 5-12
Posted on 08/02/2018

Hello Hillsborough families,

Please review the important information below about our 1:1 Chromebook program for students in Grades 5-12.

  • Chromebook Distribution will take place at Hillsborough High School from Wednesday, 8/22 to Friday, 8/31.  As in years past, appointment slots will be available during both day and evening hours. You will be able to sign up for an appointment beginning on Wednesday, 8/15.  Details and directions for signing up for a slot will be sent out when the registration system opens.  You can also visit our 1:1 Program website at www.htps.us/1to1 for more information.

  • In order to receive your device before the school year begins, both parent/guardian AND student are required to attend the appointment.  The parent/guardian must also bring a photo ID.  Students should bring their school id.

  • We encourage all families to get their Chromebook prior to the start of school, but if you are unavailable to do so for any reason, your child will receive their Chromebook during the first week of school (after all forms are signed - see below).

  • Prior to receiving a district Chromebook, both a parent/guardian AND student must LOG IN SEPARATELY to Genesis to review and electronically sign FOUR documents.  We encourage all families to do this prior to making an appointment, but if you are unable to do so our team will be able to assist with this process during Chromebook Distribution.  See the section below for more information about accessing and reviewing these documents:

Required Documents for ALL students in Grades 5-12

All families will be required to electronically review and sign four documents (2 parent documents and 2 student documents).  To do this, the parent/guardian and student must EACH LOG IN SEPARATELY to the Parent and Student Genesis Portals.

The required documents are:

1. Acceptable Use Policy (Parent Portal)

2. Device Usage Policy (Parent Portal)

3. Acceptable Use Policy (Student Portal)

4. Device Usage Policy (Student Portal)

Once logged in to the portals, the documents are available in the “Documents” tab under “Student Data.”  Please click on the PDF of each policy to read and review it. The document will open up in the current window. Once you have reviewed the document, click on the back arrow of your browser to return to the portal. Once back at the portal, click on the large green button to acknowledge and accept the terms of the policy. Each policy is student specific, so a parent must electronically sign the documents for each child that will be receiving a Chromebook (you can easily switch between children in the upper right corner of the screen).

If you are unable to sign the forms now, our team will be able to assist you during Chromebook Distribution.

Thank you,
