The coronavirus has received much attention in the media over the last several weeks however; the risk to the general public remains low.  The CDC advises that the best way to prevent infection is to avoid being exposed to this virus. General flu activity within the state remains high therefore we recommend Individuals practice routine preventive actions to help prevent the spread of any respiratory viruses.

  • Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or into your sleeve, not your hands.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Wash hands often for at least 20 seconds, especially after coughing or sneezing. Use alcohol‐based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  • Stay home from class and work if you’re sick
  • Adhere to exclusion recommendations:  fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medication before returning to work or school.
  • Avoid people who are sick.
At this time, there is no need to cancel school or social events.  Special sanitizing processes beyond routine cleaning, is not recommended.  Our district follows standard procedures for routine cleaning and disinfecting.

If you have traveled to China in the last 14 days and are sick with fever, cough or difficulty breathing:  Seek medical care right away. Before you go to a doctor’s office or emergency room, call ahead and tell them about your recent travel and your symptoms.

We remain in communication with the local and state health departments.  Since this is an ongoing and evolving public health emergency, we will continue to monitor risk criteria in support with the local health department.

This continues to be a rapidly evolving situation. For up-to-date information, please refer to the following trusted sources: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/index.html
