Halloween at HMS
This Thursday, October 31st is Halloween. School appropriate costumes are acceptable for wearing to school this Thursday. While many students enjoy wearing costumes to school on Halloween, not all do, and that’s fine. In lieu of a costume, many students prefer to simply wear a funny hat or Halloween-themed t-shirt, perhaps some face paint, or even just orange/black colors. There are many ways students can participate comfortably in the spirit of the day without having to wear a costume if they do not wish to.
COSTUME RULES
If your son or daughter intends on dressing in costume for school on October 31st, we ask that you keep the following in mind:
Costumes should be school-appropriate and comfortable to wear for the day or at a dance.
No excessive gore, violence or sexual/prejudicial innuendo should be a part of the costume.
No fake weapons. These will be confiscated.
No masks. Students’ faces must be visible. Make-up and hats are all fine, but no masks.
Finally, please note that Hillsborough Township has a 10:00 p.m. curfew for individuals under the age of 18 from October 28th - November 1st. With all this in mind, looking forward to a safe and fun Halloween for everyone.
HMS Pumpkins for a Purpose
The HMS Student Council is once again sponsoring Pumpkins for a Purpose as part of their community service work this year. Each homeroom has received a pumpkin to decorate according to one of five different theme categories. The pumpkins will be placed on display along the stage of the cafeteria from October 29-31st. Students can vote for their favorite pumpkins by donating change to each pumpkin's collection bucket. The pumpkin that collects the most $ in each category will be designated the winner and his/her homeroom will receive sweet treats. All proceeds collected will be donated to this year's Student Council charity:
